The Paris Fire Department received the first call around 4:00 p.m., reporting a chair on fire behind a residence in the 4100 block of Castlegate Drive. While crews were on their way, the situation quickly escalated—flames spread into the attic, and the call was updated to a structure fire.
“Upon arrival, fire crews found a fully involved structure fire with the added danger of a 120-gallon propane tank near the house,” said Jon McFadden, City of Paris Public Information Officer. “Firefighters began applying water to both the structure and the propane tank to prevent overheating and reduce the risk of a potential explosion.”
Thanks to a swift and coordinated response, firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control. The scene was cleared at approximately 7:00 p.m.
No injuries were reported; however, the family tragically lost a pet in the fire.
Paris EMS, Paris Police, the American Red Cross, and Lamar County Emergency Management also assisted at the scene.
